FAQs: CBD for Pets

CBD oil is safe for your dog. THC in high doses is not safe for your dog. THC is the psychoactive ingredient found in cannabis. Pet CBD does not contain more than 0.3% THC. Although there are no risks of addiction and few side effects, it is always best to confer with a veterinarian especially if your dog is on prescription drugs.

CBD oil for dogs provides relief from nausea, anxiety, and pain. If your dog doesn’t have an appetite, has separation anxiety, or is recovering from surgery, consider using CBD oil to make him feel more comfortable.

It is recommended to start with 1-5 mg per 10 lbs of your dog’s body weight. This may be administered 2-3 times per day. The dosage may require trial and error. After 30-60 minutes, there should be a difference in your dog’s behaviour. If not, increase the amount given.

You can buy CBD oil online and in-store. At CBD Authority we sell CBD oil and treats for your pets. All the products we carry online have a certificate of approval with the breakdown of cannabinoids displayed for each one.

All these options are non-psychoactive and contain less than 0.3% THC.

Full-spectrum CBD has the greatest number of cannabinoids and terpenes making it the strongest contender of the three. However, it does have the strongest, grassy taste that some pets may be averse to.

Broad spectrum CBD is less potent but has less of that grassy taste.

Isolate has 0% plant matter and 0% THC. This makes it completely flavourless.

Research is in its early stages for determining whether CBD oil may help dogs with seizures although many owners with epileptic dogs do swear by it.

CBD oils help dogs with arthritis and joint pain by alleviating pain and inflammation so our dogs can return to being their active selves with no side effects.

Holistic veterinarians are more open to recommending CBD oil for dogs. Although medical veterinarians will not outwardly recommend CBD to you as a treatment plan, they will discuss any questions or concerns you may have. It is particularly important to consult with your veterinarian if your dog is on prescription medication.

Pet CBD oil would never have enough THC to make your dog high. The CBD will relieve your dog of its anxiety, pain, or nausea without any intoxication.

At CBD Authority we have pet CBD in oil and treat form. The oils we sell all come with droppers giving you more control over the precise dosage. You can add the oil to dog food or directly into their mouths. The oils we carry are flavoured taking away any concerns of a grassy taste. Your dogs will love the flavours in both the oils and treats.

Research hasn’t been conclusive as to whether CBD may help dogs focus during training. It is thought that if your dog is less anxious, he can focus more on his training and less on his anxiety.

CBD oil not only reduces dog and cat inflammation, but it slows the deterioration of tissues or organs too. CBD oil is anti-inflammatory, decreasing inflammation and pain so your dogs and cats can get back to strutting around like they own the place.
